Full Time Program:
The HKUST MBA curriculum is designed to develop your ability to operate successfully in a global economy, and manage effectively in the Asian context. There are two main components: required cores (~60%) and advanced electives (~40%). We also provide three areas of concentration for those who want to specialize.
Required Cores
The required cores cover areas in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Marketing, Operation Management, Organization Behavior, Strategy, Communications, Business Laws and Ethics. They are arranged in three tiers – foundation function, and integration – to provide a foundation for further study in chosen areas.

Executive MBA program:
The Kellogg–HKUST Executive MBA program is a premium educational experience devoted to upgrading executives’ knowledge and management skills. The program encourages participants to think differently, look at their operations in a new way and relentlessly question and challenge.
It is tailor made for senior executives in Asia who have attained positions of leadership in their organizations. It helps them to raise the bar and understand the challenges ahead in a global context.
Organized in short but intensive modules, participants take two courses each month. Courses cut across traditional subject areas, providing tools and techniques for solving complex managerial problems. Emphasis is on three specific areas of management skills:
• Behavior in learning organizations
• International management
• Managing groups of co-operating firms for international competitiveness
International Executive MBA Program:
The International EMBA (IEMBA) program offered by the HKUST Business School, attracts senior executives from Asia, in particular the Greater China area, who, with diverse cultural background and in-depth knowledge of their own unique business environments, exchange their views on topics of common interest while learning from the School’s internationally recognized scholars.
The 15-month IEMBA program’s classes take place in different locations in China, including Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai, Hainan and Shenzhen. It is an inspiring and exciting learning experience that will empower senior executives in Chinese firms or MNCs, with state-of-the-art business and management knowledge that has immediate applications at work.
If you are a senior corporate leader, ready for challenge and on the move to the next level, then the HKUST IEMBA Program will be your best and ultimate choice.
M.Sc in Management:
Four specialized masters’ programs are offered by the School. They are the:
MSc in Economics
MSc in Financial Analysis, Investment Management
MSc in Information Systems Management
MS in Global Finance – in partnership with the NYU Stern School of Business
Ph.D in Management:
The PhD programs are designed to enable students to gain a deep knowledge of management in general, and courses with concentration in a specialized field, and to provide opportunities for the student to do original, fundamental research in his/her specialized field. Thus, the first two years of the programs will normally be devoted to coursework, leading to the major field examination and a research paper. After that, the student will begin to write the thesis.
Each doctoral student works with an academic advisor to design a program of study that reflects the student’s interests. Course work requirements depend on the background and areas of concentration of the student. The student must also pass a qualifying examination, then write and orally defend a thesis.
