Chennai: The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras has joined hands with Scope International, a wholly owned subsidiary of Standard Chartered, UK to launch a 40-hour course on Financial Markets for IITM’s MBA students.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed at the IIT Madras on October 23, 2008.
The course aims at equipping students with in-depth knowledge of financial markets. Influenced by the expertise of professors of Department of Management Studies at IIT Madras, 20 hours of this 40-hour course has been developed by Software Solutions, the IT arm of Standard Chartered Group.

“The course aims to provide an avenue for students to gain expertise in applying technology in the financial markets. These students have the technical expertise, but may need the domain knowledge to apply it. Keeping this in mind, we have developed a robust course covering the latest in financial markets” Akshaya Gaur, Head-Software Solutions said.
The course is said to provide students with specialist skills for financial re-engineering, security and learning of new technologies. And for this a rich and relevant curriculum has been prepared that is bound to provide cutting-edge knowledge in both banking technology and financial markets.
