SCHOOL COMMENTS
School Comments:
The Stanford Graduate School of Business is constructing a $350 million business school campus of 8 buildings around 3 quadrangles to be completed in 2010-2011. It is expected to achieve the highest LEED Platinum certification from the U.S. Green Building Council for environmental sustainability. The campus will provide the infrastructure for the School’s new curriculum introduced in 2007, which includes seminars, leadership exercises in teams of eight, and collaborative multidisciplinary classroom work. In addition to joint degrees listed in the BW database, students may also pursue an MBA/MA in Public Policy, an MBA/MS in Environmental Resources, and and an MBA/MA in Education.
Graduate Comments
Small class, strong culture, teaching based on intensive research, top faculty, brand recognition, laid back culture, brilliant students with diverse interests, big role given to students in deciding the future of the school. Stanford the best business school for a person with my profile and interests. — NA
If someone wants to work in California or be an Entrepreneur or do VC, obviously Stanford is the best school for him or her. If they want to work/live on the East coast, probably not. — Entrepreneurship
The small class size is great. There are 1/3 as many people to fill the same number of interview slots or jobs when recruiters come. Coupled with the brand, you won’t have a better chance of getting one of the top jobs at any other school. Alumni network is extremely helpful. As a member of that network, you become counted among some pretty impressive people. — Venture Capital/Private Equity
Stanford offers a great blend of entrepreneurship, current business practices, innovation. The extensive electives, emphasis on non ibanking/consulting careers, and the eclectic mix of students makes for an environment where you are free to grow and learn in any direction you like. — Consulting
Stanford is truly a transformational place. There is a strong focus on leadership, interpersonal dynamics, and generally “knowing oneself” which helps to distinguish Stanford GSB alumni as thoughtful, genuine, and principled leaders – not only in the workplace but also in the community. — NA
Where else can one learn new venture formation, strategy and entrepreneurship from the current or former CEOs of Cisco Systems, Intel Corp, and Google, while also sitting under the tutelage of Nobel Prize winning economists and the new Chairman of the President’s Council of Economic Advisors? –NA
I got to spend 30 hours analyzing tech strategy and global market changes with Andy Grove in a 20-student seminar. Sometimes I get used to seeing Jack Welch, Herb Kelleher, George Lucas, Steve Ballmer, Anne Mulcahy, John Browne, and Colin Powell speak every other week here. And then I realize that I’m experiencing the most robust intellectual feast ever designed for business leaders. — Venture Capital/Private Equity

Co-creating your experience at Michigan is not just a tagline, it is truly the way things work in the classroom, in student organizations and in the overall MBA community. Students not only have a passion to learn, but also have the zeal to teach and share with fellow classmates. Marketing
Michigan far exceeded my expectations on academic, social, and professional levels. The teaching was top notch, my colleagues were impressive individuals, and I was able to realize my goals from business school. Furthermore, I had a better time during grad school than all my former colleagues who attended seven of the other top 10 business schools as rated by BusinessWeek in 2004. Investment Banking
The Ross community was exemplary. I met so many people who I admire and respect that have come from vastly different backgrounds and will be going in totally different directions. Yet, we were all similar in that we shared common values of integrity, hard work, and intellectual curiosity. Consulting
The broad-based and action-based learning approach of Ross School of Business solidifies my past knowledge and experience and widens my opportunities in the future. Finance
The challenging core courses, the flexible electives, and the MAP consulting program all combined for a great education and a successful career switch. Marketing
The Ross School was my best educational experience and more than anything provided extensive training and experience in analytical thinking.–Consulting
Lifestyle at the university is great selling point. College town atmosphere makes for meaningful relationship building with a set of classmates that come from all walks of life, and are all looking to create new friendships.–Investment Banking
While Michigan is not perfect, it is still has a strong culture of support, fun, and high-performance. You have to be somewhat self-directed to get the most out of your education here, but attending Ross has probably been the best thing I’ve ever done for myself.–Consulting
Michigan (Ross) is a great general management program with outstanding opportunities for students to gain real world experience in solving business issues. This is especially true for students who intend to change career directions post-MBA. The overall atmosphere in school is also very casual and supportive. The absence of grades results in most students focusing on learning instead of indulging in excessively competitive behavior. The overall quality of students and faculty is fairly high. The facilities of the school are lacking currently. However the school is under a dramatic reconstruction process in which a totally new building will be constructed by 2008.–Marketing
I had slight reservations going to Michigan because it does not have the name cachet of Harvard; however, as soon as I realized how much Ross had to offer, my doubts vanished!–Consulting
I would recommend the Michigan MBA program to friends/colleagues who are very interested in certain areas like marketing, consulting, and/or operations management, or who are interested in taking advantage of dual-degree opportunities like the MBA/MPH or MBA/JD.–Investment Banking

Wharton’s greatest strength lies in its culture. The school has the most rigorous academic curriculum and therefore the graduates are probably the best prepared and trained MBAs. Despite this, however, Wharton students and alumni are humble, well-rounded, and fun — distinguishing them from graduates of other top MBA programs. –Venture Capital/Private Equity
Wharton’s MBA program is outstanding. It is bound to bring out the best in almost anyone, yet the environment is an extremely introspective one. It is not just about academics with great professors and classmates, it’s about becoming a better leader, professional and individual. –Investment Banking
Its important to have some math skills, because Wharton is heavily quantitative. –Marketing
Exceptional people, great balance between academics, Wharton name goes a long way to credibility with employers. –Venture Capital/Private Equity
Wharton was an absolutely unbelievable experience. The intellectual power of the school, the people I’ve met and the things I was able to do ensured that I am not the same person that entered Wharton in August 2004. –Consulting
Great people– very down to earth. Many people with similar interests; they push you to become a better, stronger, more knowledgeable candidate. At the same time, environment is not overly competitive– no backstabbing. It is a great place to make contacts and meet people. Investment Banking
At Wharton one can get a very unique and very intense experience with tremendously diverse activities and opportunities to accommodate many different interests and directions for exploration. You can really stretch yourself here if you want to. You can have a lot of fun too. I believe the depth of experience and learning at other schools is more superficial and less personalized. Consulting
The benefits of this MBA program are immediate. The learning, the exposure to senior management teams, the access to future employers, the strong faculty all contribute strongly to dramatically improving one’s career choices and opportunities.–Investment Banking
I developed as a leader, was exposed to a rigorous curriculum and leave approaching business in a more thorough and integrated way.–Venture Capital/Private Equity
I consider what I have gained, all in terms of social capital, maturity, academic learning, and exposure to countless high caliber leaders – truly unique to the program and school I have chosen.–Finance
